Restore Database from Backup

How do I get my latest backup back as my current database?

First of all, be sure not to back up your database again before you do this.

The restoration process is as follows:

  1. The current database is renamed to CILeDB_yyyymmdd_Rp.accdb, and is moved to your most recent backup file folder. If your backup is on an external drive (thumb drive, etc.), please make sure it is connected to the computer before you proceed.
  2. Your backup database is copied to your CILe folder (where your CILe system resides) and is renamed to be picked up by the CILe software.
  3. Your 'bad' database is stored on your backup drive along with your most recent backup.

The steps for accomplishing this restore are:

  1. Make sure your backup drive is attached to your computer.
  2. Exit out of CILe (you cannot be in the database and replace it at the same time).
  3. Double-click the "Cile Utilities" icon on your desktop.
  4. Click the "Restore Database from Latest Backup" button.
  5. Click 'OK' when you get the confirmation message and exit "CILe Utilities."

To restore the database from a backup earlier than the most recent requires some technical expertise at this point. It isn't difficult, just a little tricky. If you need to do this, please get in touch with me at the e-mail below and I can help you. I hope to have a more robust restore process in the future where you can select the backup from a list of all of your backups.
