CILe - Client Information Ledger
Deleting a Client from the Database

How to delete a client from the database

If a client has ever been opened by creating the intake document, you can't. The reason for that is because regardless of how many sessions you have had with a client, if you got past the intake session, they were officially a client. That makes you responsible for the data you generated for at least five years after you generate it, so it will be a long time before you can get rid of anything. Some day, that will be available, but not at this time. We also plan on developing a routine to split off old data into a separate database, but Microsoft Access can handle a great deal of data, so it has not yet bubbled to the top of our priority list.

Having said that, if you have added a client because you want to put them on your waiting list, or you scheduled them but they never attend the first session, then you can delete them if you want. To do so, go to their Fiscal Face Sheet and make sure the "Waiting List" checkbox is checked. Then go to the Waiting List off of the Administrative menu and you can click the Delete button. If they have ever been opened, however, CILe will not let you delete them.
