| How can I delete old backups I no longer
need?
CILe gives you a listing of all of your backups and allows you to select which ones you no longer want to save.
To delete old backups, click the "Delete Old Backups" item off of the Administrative Menu.
A dialogue box will be displayed with all of the database files in your default backup directory. You can navigate to other directories if you want, as well. Hold down the Ctrl key and click whichever files you no longer want. Which ones to delete and which ones to save is completely up to you. I try to save one from each month, going back several months, in case there is something from a prior month that I have deleted that I now want to recover. I seldom have had to do this, but on the couple of occasions when I did, I was very glad that I still had the older backup. This is completely a personal preference.
If you are ready to delete the selected files, click the OK button. It will display a list of the files you have selected for deletion (above), and give you a warning that this action is not undoable. These files DO NOT get sent to the recycle bin. If you're happy with your selection, click the OK button. Since they are not recoverable, CILe will ask you to confirm again that you want to delete these files.
This box will give you one last chance to change your mind about the deletions.
Here you will see another listing of the files that have been deleted. Remember that these files are now permanently gone and cannot be retrieved. |
